How do you avoid counting fuel and driver weight twice in a payload calculation?
- If you have an actual weighbridge weight for the coupled combination before loading, use it directly. It already includes the fuel, driver and equipment present at that moment, so do not subtract them again.
- If you only have a base tare, add fuel, driver, equipment and other actual pre-load weight separately before calculating the remaining payload.
- Choose the gross-mass limit according to the specific combination documents and trip. In EU international traffic, 40 t is a common reference for a standard 2+3 combination, but other combinations and exceptions exist.
- Remaining gross mass does not guarantee legality: an individual axle or axle group can be overloaded before the overall gross-mass limit is reached.
