CARGO
CBM & volumetric weight calculator
Calculate cargo volume, density, volumetric weight and chargeable-weight planning using your carrier’s factor.
⚠️ Important
This result is a planning aid. Always verify legal limits, vehicle documents, route restrictions and carrier tariffs separately.
Why is the volumetric-weight factor not universal?
- CBM is calculated from physical dimensions and does not depend on a carrier tariff.
- Volumetric or dimensional weight is a pricing rule. Road freight, air freight, express courier and sea LCL services may use different kg/m³ factors, divisors, minimums and rounding rules.
- 333 kg/m³ is used in some European road-freight examples, but carriers, products and markets can use other conversions. In express services, a common ÷5000 model corresponds to 200 kg/m³.
- For non-stackable, oversized or palletised shipments, a carrier may use LDM, a pallet equivalent or another special pricing rule instead of simple CBM.
Important: The calculator’s “higher value” is a planning comparison. Always verify the final chargeable weight in the specific carrier tariff or contract.
