⚠️ Important
Planning aid only. Always verify state and federal rules, permits, vehicle/tire ratings, route restrictions, carrier tariffs and certified scale weights when they apply.
Main federal HOS limits for property-carrying drivers
- A property-carrying driver may drive up to 11 hours after 10 consecutive hours off duty.
- Driving is not permitted beyond the 14th consecutive hour after coming on duty, subject to exceptions and special provisions.
- A 30-minute non-driving interruption is required after 8 cumulative hours of driving without a qualifying interruption, and the 60/70-hour on-duty limits apply over 7/8 consecutive days.
Important: FMCSA has exceptions and special provisions, including short-haul, adverse conditions and sleeper-berth options. This assistant is not an ELD and does not replace the official record of duty status.
