CARRIER
Trip CO₂ calculator
Estimate diesel tailpipe CO₂ from miles, MPG or actual gallons using the U.S. EPA diesel combustion factor.
⚠️ Important
Planning aid only. Always verify state and federal rules, permits, vehicle/tire ratings, route restrictions, carrier tariffs and certified scale weights when they apply.
How the U.S. diesel CO₂ estimate works
- U.S. EPA references about 10,180 grams of tailpipe CO₂ per gallon of diesel burned.
- Trip gallons can be entered directly or calculated from miles ÷ MPG.
- CO₂ per mile is a fuel-based planning result. Formal corporate or customer reporting can require additional gases, upstream emissions and a specified accounting framework.
Important: EPA’s diesel factor is a combustion/tailpipe reference, not a full well-to-wheel lifecycle factor.
